Filippo Minelli, Contradictions (Ongoing)

The aim of the project is to point out the gap between the reality we live in and the ephemeral world of technologies.
Writing the names of anything connected with 2.0 experiences in the slums of the third world as to show the idealization connected with these experiences, underlining the difference between what we decide to show about us and our reality and how the world actually is, how we actually are and live.
2.0 technologies and the marketing behind them are characterized by a religious veneration, as also said by Leander Kaheny in his “Cult of Mac” book. Users are pushed to live with increasing abstraction from reality, living technologies only as an ideal reality (Text by David Pierce)

How do invertebrates survive the heat?

While they generally flourish in the warmth of summer, they can suffer or even perish during heat waves, especially when coupled with dry spells or drought. When soil moisture declines, ponds dry out, and stream water levels drop, some invertebrates aestivate (become dormant), burrowing deeper into the soil or pond mud to wait for rain. Others, like many butterflies, become active earlier in the morning, avoiding the heat of the day.

“Ugh, you’re so adorable. I want to be friends with you,” I whisper as I like your posts and never speak to you.

I mean, it’s not exactly untrue.

Today begins with a song stuck in my head and birds outside:

Do you know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Do you know the muffin man,
Who lives in Drury Lane?

This was a man, dressed as a plant, making pigeon noises at people walking by. I said hello, asked if it was okay to take his picture, and then asked why he was dressed as a plant. He said, “I’m just working through some stuff. Thank you for asking. No ones asked yet.”

Stop thinking about art works as objects, and start thinking about them as triggers for experiences. (Roy Ascott’s phrase.) That solves a lot of problems: we don’t have to argue whether photographs are art, or whether performances are art, or whether Carl Andre’s bricks or Andrew Serranos’s piss or Little Richard’s ‘Long Tall Sally’ are art, because we say, ‘Art is something that happens, a process, not a quality, and all sorts of things can make it happen.’ … [W]hat makes a work of art ‘good’ for you is not something that is already ‘inside’ it, but something that happens inside you — so the value of the work lies in the degree to which it can help you have the kind of experience that you call art.
