EXCLUSIVE: See the cover of Emma Mills’ This Adventure Ends + win a copy of First & Then!

We loved Emma Mills’ debut novel First & Then, and we’re so excited to bring you the cover of her new novel This Adventure Ends!

In This Adventure Ends, Sloane doesn’t expect to fall in with an intense, all-consuming group of friends when she  moves from New York to Florida. Twins Vera and Gabe are who Sloane grows cloest to, and when a painting by their late mother goes missing, Sloane decides to track it down.

“One of my favorite books as a kid - and beyond! - was From The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg,” said Mills. “In The Mixed-Up Files, a young girl named Claudia runs away from home with her little brother—though Claudia makes the great distinction that it’s not just about running from somewhere, but running to somewhere. I loved that notion, and I really wanted This Adventure Ends to capture a family doing much the same—running away, in a sense, but also running toward something. It’s a bit of a quest story, and a bit of a love story, though not just romantic love. There’s the love between a father and daughter, between siblings, between best friends. It was a ton of fun to write, and I can’t wait to share it with you in the fall. In the mean time, I’m absolutely thrilled with the cover, and so excited to show it off!”

This Adventure Ends releases from Henry Holt in 2017.

To celebrate the cover reveal, we’re giving away a copy of Mills’ debut First & Then! Devon’s life takes a turn for the unexpected (and unwanted) after her cousin, Foster, and her high school’s star running back, Ezra, end up in her P.E. class and manage to integrate themselves into every other aspect of her life.

I am SO THRILLED with the cover. Thanks to YA Interrobang for the reveal! :)

That last picture though. The way children look up to him. I don’t trust anyone who children or animals don’t like. Obama gets both. Love that guy.

President Obama is so important to America, in so many ways…

Sometimes people think they know you. They know a few facts about you, and they piece you together in a way that makes sense to them. And if you don’t know yourself very well, you might even believe that they are right. But the truth is, that isn’t you. That isn’t you at all.

pretty sure i saw somewhere that that was the stage direction in that part…which is very Shakespearean tbh ;D

but it’s so important to me because LOOK AT ELIZA BEING THE BEST AT BEING A MOM. SHE JUST LOVES SO MUCH AND SUPPORTS HER LITTLE BOY AND TEACHES HIM EVERYTHING SHE CAN. AND LITTLE PHILIP WANTS TO BE LIKE HIS DADDY AND SO SHE HELPS HIM. SHE IS THE BEST.

i have a lot of feelings about eliza. like all the time.
